Fundraising and Social Events

Special Olympics Bournemouth & District is run entirely by volunteers and receives no funding from government or Special Olympics GB so we do all our own fundraising.  Regular fundraising events throughout the year help to maintain our profile and bring ourselves to the attention of potential new athletes and volunteers.  And, of course, we raise much needed monies to keep us going each year.  It is easy to arrange rotas for each occasion to ensure we do not take advantage of the enormous goodwill of our members and friends.   Below are typical examples of what we spend each year so you can see why we rely on these events and other donations or grant applications to remain sustainable.

Bournemouth North Rotary, Craftwood Interiors, Marriott Hotel and Santander have recognised the good work we do and the positive impact it has on a number of disadvantaged people and have very kindly made significant donations in the past.  We are always grateful for any extra support that local organisations wish to give us.

Maintaining and running a minibus – £3000

Hosting 3 annual competitions – £3000
